iLok Authorization

What do I need to in order activate my Antares license?

You will need the following:

Do I really need an iLok?

Yes.  All of our plug-ins, including trial versions, require an iLok USB Smart Key.

My iLok was lost or stolen. How can I retrieve my Antares license(s)?

Please file an RMA for a lost or stolen iLok at iLok.com

Once you've done that, please fill out and sign this document and email it to support@antarestech.com

We will then issue you a replacement license.

Why am I getting an iLok authorization error message?

Here are some possible reasons that you might get an iLok authorizaton error message:

1. Your Antares license has not been activated onto your iLok.

2. Your iLok is not plugged in.

3. You've installed a different version of a plug-in that is not covered by your license. In that case, you may need to uninstall, and reinstall the correct version for your license, or purchase an upgrade to the current version.

4. If none of the above is true, it's possible that your iLok is not being seen by your computer. It may help to synchronize it, using the iLok License Manager application.

If this does not solve the issue, please contact us for assistance.

Compatibilty and Installation

Are Antares plug-ins compatible with my system?

Please see our OS Compatibility page and Host (DAW) Compatibility page for information about compatibility.

Is Auto-Tune compatible with Ableton Live?

Auto-Tune EFX 3 is compatible with Ableton Live 9 on both Windows and Mac.

Auto-Tune 8 and Auto-Tune Live are compatible with Ableton Live on Mac but not on Windows.

If you're using Ableton Live on Mac, please install the AU format of Auto-Tune 8 and Auto-Tune Live, not the VST format.

Where can I find the Antares plug-in installers?

Installers for all of our current plug-ins can be found on our Latest Software page.

Installers for older (legacy) plug-ins can be found on our Discontinued Software page.

If your license is for the 32-bit version of a plug-in, please be sure to install the 32-bit version, or consider purchasing an upgrade to the 64-bit version.

How can I uninstall my Antares plug-ins on Mac OS X?

Go to the appropriate folder on your hard drive and delete the plugin file.

Here are the locations of the folders for the various plug-in formats:

Some DAWs may also require you to manually scan the plug-in folder in order for your plug-ins to appear. Please consult your DAW's documentation for information about how to do that.

Plug-in functionality

How can I get that classic Auto-Tune effect?

If you're using Auto-Tune 8, Auto-Tune Live, or Auto-Tune 7, set the Retune Speed to 0.

If you're using Auto-Tune EFX 3, set the Retune Speed to EFX.

Enjoy.

Can I use Auto-Tune 8 to open projects/sessions created with older versions of Auto-Tune?

Auto-Tune 8.0.x can open instances of Auto-Tune 7.

Auto-Tune 8.1.x cannot open instances of Auto-Tune 8.0.x or Auto-Tune 7.

If you have old projects using instances of Auto-Tune 7 or Auto-Tune 8.0 that you wish to open, we recommend that you install both Auto-Tune 8.0.x and Auto-Tune 8.1.x.

You can then use version 8.0.x to open your old projects, and version 8.1.x for new work going forward.

Installers for both versions can be found on our Latest Software Downloads page.

Known issues and Workarounds

Auto-Tune loses sync with Pro Tools when working in Graphic Mode

We are aware of two features in Pro Tools that cause Auto-Tune's Graphic Mode to lose sync with the Pro Tools timeline.

Those features are Dynamic Plugin Processing, and Offline Bounce.

If you are using Auto-Tune in Graphic Mode in Pro Tools, we recommend turning off Dynamic Plugin Processing and avoiding Offline Bounce.

You can turn off Dynamic Plugin Processing by going to the Options menu in Pro Tools.

VST3 performance issues in Sonar

We are aware of some compatibility issues with the VST3 versions of Auto-Tune EFX 3 and the Avox 4 plug-ins  in Cakewalk Sonar.

For that reason, we recommend that you use the VST2 versions of those plug-ins with Sonar.

The Auto-Tune EFX 3 and Avox 4 installers install VST2 plugin files in these locations by default:

32-bit:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST2

64-bit:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2
