Antares Software Is Now Apple Silicon Native

We’re thrilled to announce that Antares plug-ins* feature native support for Apple Silicon processors.

Introduced to the Mac ecosystem in late 2020, Apple Silicon is the latest advance in internal computer chip architecture. The proprietary technology (M1 & M2) “system on a chip” replaces old Intel CPUs, third-party graphics processors, and other hardware in favor of faster processing speeds, enhanced performance, and a longer battery life. It’s Apple’s chip and we’re all thriving in it!

What does ‘Apple Silicon Native’ Mean?

When we say we’re natively compatible with this advanced, new Apple hardware, we mean that our software makes full use of the chip’s incredible potential. We kept track of every tweak and update Apple made to its chip architecture and rebuilt and reconfigured our software to optimize every change. Think of it as if we “tuned” our software to run in harmony with Apple’s hardware.

How Will This Help Me?

Do I Have An Apple Silicon Chip?

If you’re not sure if your Mac has the most up-to-date hardware, click on the Apple logo up in the top-left corner of your screen, then click ‘About This Mac’. You’ll see a pop-up like the ones pictured below:

Apple Silicon devices have a line that reads ‘Chip’ followed by the model. The same line on an Intel-based device will read ‘Processor’, instead. If you have a ‘Chip’, then congrats! The most advanced Apple architecture is at your fingertips.
