Start With One Question: How Much Control Do You Want?
Almost every difference between these two plugins traces back to one thing, which is how much say you want over how the correction sounds.
Both are Auto Mode plugins, and both run the modern AutoTune interface, give you visual Flex Tune feedback, include Modern and Classic mode, and stay fully compatible with AutoKey 2. If you already know one of them, you will find your way around the other in minutes.
AutoTune corrects the pitch and asks very little of you along the way. You set the key, the scale, and how hard to push, and it takes care of the rest, which is a feature and not a limitation. DVA, the new vibrato engine. This is the feature that headlines Advanced, and it has no equivalent in AutoTune. DVA detects the vibrato a singer meant to sing and protects it while everything around it gets corrected, so the tuning can stay natural and transparent even when you push the retune speed hard, instead of flattening the performance into something rigid. You can preserve that vibrato, narrow or widen it, cut or boost it, or generate vibrato where there is none using sine, square, saw, or triangle shapes.
A rebuilt correction engine. AutoTune brought a modern interface and a more efficient, more stable foundation, but it kept the existing pitch algorithm. Advanced is where we went back into the algorithm itself, and it delivers our cleanest, most transparent correction yet, with the most accurate pitch detection AutoTune has offered.
Three latency modes instead of two. AutoTune gives you Low Latency and High Quality, and Advanced adds a Live mode for ultra-fast real-time monitoring, reporting a plugin latency of 0.84 ms at 44.1 kHz. Track and perform in real time, then switch to High Quality for the mix.
The Formant Designer. Advanced brings improved formant processing, with Transpose and Formant controls that now run a full ±12 semitones and can be linked so they move together, for more natural sounding shifts than the streamlined edition offers.
A faster way to build scales. Advanced puts key and scale editing on a redesigned 78-note Visual Keyboard, with Octave Sync to edit a note across every octave at once, plus MIDI Perform to map a hardware controller to any control in the plugin.
When Should You Stay With AutoTune?
AutoTune remains the streamlined choice, and for a large share of sessions it is all the plugin you need.
Speed and simplicity. AutoTune gets a vocal in tune quickly, stays light on CPU, and gets out of the way. Songwriters cutting demos, artists tracking their own vocals, and anyone who wants tuning handled rather than designed are well served by exactly what they already have.
A familiar, proven workflow. The modern interface, visual Flex Tune, Modern and Classic mode, and the core controls all carry over, so there is nothing new to learn and nothing extra to manage.

Which Plugin Is Right for Your Workflow?
If you cut demos and write, you mainly need vocals in tune so you can hear the song, and AutoTune already does exactly that, so there is no reason to move.
