Following on the heels of the critically acclaimed single “Hey, Ma”, the new Bon Iver record “I,I” comes packed with the kind of deep lyrics, emotional performances, and innovative vocal sounds and production that Justin Vernon is known for.

Check out the new record, “i,i” in the SoundCloud playlist below:

The new record features numerous other artists, including Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National and Francis Farewell Starlite of Francis and the Lights. Francis, known as a real Harmony Engine power user, is the creator of the “Prizmizer” vocal effect used on his own records, as well as those by Chance the Rapper, Kanye and Frank Ocean.

Bon Iver’s use of Auto-Tune in the studio is well documented, but what about on stage? Producer/engineer Chris Messina tells us they’re using multiple instances of Auto-Tune and Harmony Engine with some Eventide hardware on their current tour to handle the complex vocal processing Bon Iver is known for.
