Roman Molino Dunn Scores Netflix Sci-Fi With Auto-Tune Slice

The award-winning film composer, Billboard-charting music producer, and business owner Roman Molino Dunn (a.k.a. Electropoint) has been elevating moving images with meticulously crafted soundtracks and soaring scores for years. With recent work on two of the more acclaimed films of the year—Paul Schrader’s The Card Counter and Sean Baker’s Red Rocket—Roman has become one of the most sought-after composers in the film industry.

Roman also recently scored the popular Netflix film, AI Love You. In this romantic sci-fi, two of Thailand’s biggest stars, Mario Maurer and Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul, get back together again and grapple with identity, technology, and love. A big hit in Asia, the film reached #1 on Netflix in 10 different countries! This Thai-American collaboration was directed by Stephan Zlotescu and David Asavanond with cinematography by Damon “H1” Chung.

Roman relied on the proven power of Auto-Tune to conjure a sparkling hybrid synthwave soundtrack that accentuates the future-feel of the film while helping to propel the story forward. The new Auto-Tune Slice drove many of his creative decisions and helped architect the sonic signature of the work.

Not only did Roman compose the soundtrack, he also created the voice of the AI character. Roman leveraged the unique voice manipulation capabilities of the Auto-Tune plug-in EFX+ to create the compelling voice for the helpful AI-turned-tormented-romantic.
